Uninstalling 3rd Party Firewall Problems

There should be a thread just dedicated to - Uninstalling 3rd party Firewall
Problems.

Why?, well, ussualy you need internet connection to install them and that
can make it difficult to uninstall them, if you run into problems. And so,
they can leave a bit of a mess behind in your computer, and you may not be
able to browse the web, use Outllook Express or install another brand
security suite. You might even find that the only solution is to reinstall
windows, which may not be too good for computers that are getting older, and
in general you might run into other problems. You may find that getting
support from that particular Software maker may not be too helpful(they may
not even have any back-up?), and also you may not be able to get on the web
to access or research it in the first place. The thing is no matter what, its
going to take a fair amount time, worry and resourses to come to arrive at
any solution. And finaly, there is not realy a lot about on the web on this
subject. All these Firewall products seem very good untill you run into a
problem and you need help? That is, what is worse a Virus or a Firewall
problem which you have paid for? Which is the easier to remove?

So........... I think this issue realy deserves a dedicated thread.

Anyway, If you have a problems in this area why don't you add it to this
thread too.

First, this is not a static bulletin board so the threads can be pushed off
the server.

I have yet to encounter a software firewall which would not clean itself off
correctly (except Symantec's.) However, with enough information available
off the web/newsgroups, you can normally "fix" most firewall uninstalls issues
fast.

BTW: Symantec has info on how to completely remove their firewall software
(and their other software) on their web site. You should get this info before
you remove anything based from Symantec.
