third party firewall

My husband has installed a third party firewall and will not tell me what it
is or how to change it. I need to remove this program. Is there anything I
can do to detect and remove without knowing which program he used? I have
spent about 15 hours on it so far.

Firewalls usually are part of the startup process groups for XP
Try Autoruns from SysInternals:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.html
This will show all apps/etc. that load/run when you first boot and
selectively allow you to stop any that you don't want.

Note: You may need to highlight an item (right click), in your case
highlight what you might think is the firewall process and use the Google
option on the highlighted item to get the details as to what it is.
