uninstalled progs not being removed from start menu

Whenever I uninstall a program from Control panel>>programs>>uninstall. The
program is not removed from the start>>all programs menu. I have to
physically remove it. Why does this happen?

Hi T5,

Because the programs uninstall routine is sloppy. The uninstaller just does
what the program's uninstall file tells it to, and frequently they don't
include removing the program folder itself as well as menu entries.

mmm more work for the user. I have found that there is heck of a lot more
work for the user to do If he/she wants to keep things tidy in vista.

Hi T5,

It has nothing to do with Vista, this occurs with any version of Windows.
It's not the operating system that's at fault, it's the software vendor's
uninstall routine. Written correctly, it would include removing those items,
but most concentrate on deleting/unregistering installed system files and
removing key registry entries. Mainly things that could cause conflicts or
allow the software to still be used. Inconsequential items, like leftover
folders and shortcuts, are ignored.
