Uninstall not removing directory

P

Hi there,

Win Vista

Whenever I uninstall an app, whether it be from Control Panel or from the
app's uninstall wizard, the \\Program Files\... directory still remains with
some files in. How can I uninstall something so that it removes all and every
instance / directory / reference to a program?

Thx and regards,

This frequently happens with uninstalls. You might want to look at 3ed party
software like System Mechanic that seems to hunt down all vestages of a
program throughout the system. From
http://www.iolo.com/system-mechanic/technicaloverview.aspx

Remove Invalid Uninstaller Clutter
If you’ve ever tried to uninstall or remove a program from your PC using the
Windows Add/Remove Programs console and been presented with an error message,
you have been the victim of invalid uninstaller. Use System Mechanic’s
Invalid Uninstaller Repair tool to clean up flawed uninstaller information
and remove frustrating errors that take place when sloppy software doesn’t
cleanup up after itself.

Which is not to say there may not be some free software out there that does
the same.

My God....

It has been years and years and still uninstall does not really uninstall
everything...
This problem has been there all along and even in vista it is still there...

There is somethig stupid here.
Either the program's uninstall files are stupid, or windows is stupid.

I now believe that stupidedness is inherited...

A windows uninstaller uses the uninstall file created by a program when it
is installed, so we all know where the problem is.

There are a few programs that will uninstall completely every single time -
even to the registry entries. Those companies do it right.
