Hi, I recently used the Microsoft Office 2007 60 day trial and at the end of
I wanted to revert back to using microsoft 2000. I clicked "NO" to converting
the trial and then closed it off. Resinstalled my old microsoft outlook and
none of my emails are in there. I have tried to import but it doesn't give me
outlook 2007 as an option to import from. I didn't do any back-ups or
anything like that because I wasn't aware that I needed to.
Please help! Is there anyway of retrieving my lost emails (from inbox as
well as personal folders?)
Thanks, Rachel

Data files in Outlook 2007 are not compatible with versions older than 2003.
When you installed the trial, did you continue using your older data file,
or did you have Outlook 2007 create a use a brand new file?
You never access Outlook data by importing it. You just open the file in
Outlook. Did you try that?

Outlook, prior to OL2003 cannot read the default data file used by OL2007
The mail/data is not lost, but you will need to find some kind sole with
OL2003 or OL2007 who can convert the data file to a an earlier version
format file that your version of outlook can read.

PS you dont generally Import or Export native outlook data, with OL closed
you copy the data file, or within Outlook you open the data file

I tried to open the file by going file - open - personal folders.pst but
there were no .pst files to open. I have done a system restore and now I have
..pst files however when I try to open outlook2000 it comes up with an error
message and it won't let me go any further. I can't get it to open at all and
therefore I can't access File - open.
What do you mean by 'copying' the data file. Where do I copy it from and to?
Sorry I dont really understand how the programs work nor where the files are
saved.
Thanks

You did a System Restore - to the time before Outlook 2007? If so, your
Outlook 2000 configuration should be reset correctly.

Before you open Outlook 2000, check if the configuration (including all
your PST files) is correct (Control Panel | Mail).

You only need to copy your data file (PST) if it is a backup that needs
to be copied back to the original location. If it's already there, you
just open it with Outlook (or specify it in the Control Panel's Mail
applet).

I have checked Control>Mail but I can't see anywhere in there to configure
..pst file. I just have a properties option and then General, Server,
Connection and Advanced Tab, nothing that says anything about .pst. I don't
know what the correct configuration is. When I try to open personal folders
in OL2000 i get any error message "the .pst file is not compatible with the
version of personal folders information service. Contact your administrator".

I don't remember how the Mail applet look in Outlook 2000; but I'm sure
there is a place where you can configure your Outlook data files (PST).

You *cannot* use a PST file that was created with Outlook 2007; use your
original data file from Outlook 2000.
