Outlook 2007 60-day trial

I (foolishly in retrospect) downloaded a 60-day free trial of Outlook 2007
which removed my otherwise perfectly good Outlook 2000 (yes!) in the process,
BUT won't run because it requires a "password for Personal Folders (1).pst."

What is this and where does it live? As far as I can find out, this
password applies to Outlook 2003 but not 2000, which I no longer have - I
didn't back it up.

Can anyone help?

You cannot have two versions of Outlook installed at the same time. Moreover,
you cannot install a newer Outlook without removing the prior version unless
you tell the installation to do that. Finally, based on the name of the PST
you're giving, I suspect that the new Outlook installation also created a new
PST. Open the folder %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook and look how many PSTs are in there. How many do you
see?

You don't ever need to back up the Outlok program itself, only your data
file(s). See this:

It's very kind of you to reply but the problem lies with this thing about a
password and I don't know where it would be found or even if it exists.
Without the password (I used Outlook 2000 previously which did not require a
password), I can't access the application. I did manage to get inside the
Data file and found there is only one pst in there. However, the pst folder
cannot be opened without the password. Any further advice short of dumping
the whole lot and going out to buy another version?

I must not have been clear. BEFORE you try to start Outlook, examine the
folder whose path I gave you to see if, in fact, you have more than one PST.
If you do have more than one, then rename the one you cited to something
besides ".pst" and try to start Outlook again. What happens then?

I looked at all the links you provided and read carefully everything you'd
advised and managed (somehow - I wouldn't be able to retrace my footsteps) to
arrive at a link that allowed me to set a password - bingo! You can imagine
my delight as Outlook 2007 built up before my eyes at 2am, followed by all my
data, contacts, etc. I am very grateful for your help.

While it would be nice if we knew what it was you finally fond, the main thing
is that Outlook is working.
