Microsoft Office 2007 Trial - Outlook 2007 Does Not Download

A

Albert Ross

I have downloaded the trial version of Microsoft Outlook 2007 Standard. On
the Microsoft web page it promises that this download will include Outlook
2007. But it does not. As I have uninstalled the Outlook 2003 program to
ensure no clash with installation of Outlook 2007, I have now lost all my
last 8 months of business emails and am desperate to get back into them.

Re-install Outlook 2003 to return to your paid license.

Did you uninstall OL2003 *before* installing OL2007? There can be only
one instance of Outlook running on a host at a time.

I just installed the Office 2007 trial in a virtual machine and OL2007
was included. Where did you download it from? I got it from:

Thanks Diane - There is no Setup for Office 2007 on my computer. Where do I
find it please? In Programs there is just the list of Excel, Word,
PowerPoint and MO Tools.

Rerun set up and choose the custom option -- select Outlook 2007. The old
mail should be just fine - once you get outlook installed it should pick up
the profile and you'll have your mail back.

Unfortunately I have no way of re-installing MO Outlook 2003 - I have no CD
as it was on the computer when I bought it.

You should be able to find the Office Setup under Add/Remove Programs
(use Change).

Then it was part of the bloat that the computer vendor shoved on the
hard drives. It was probably a trial version, too. If you actually
paid for it (check your invoice), it may not be available as a separate
install but only in the restore image for the computer. You'll have to
read the manual for whatever computer brand and model that you have to
see if they let you rerun their setup to select just the Office 2003 for
re-installation. If you received no install CDs and there is no restore
or recovery image or setup then you didn't get the software with the
computer but instead got a polluted hard disk.

Did you uninstall OL2003 before installing Office 2007 trial?

No, I uninstalled OL2003 after downloading MO2007 Standard Trial.

That's not what he asked. "Downloading" and "Installing" are two entirely
separate functions. "Downloading" is the process of transferring the (large)
file from the website to your computer. "Installing" is the process of
double-clicking the "downloaded" file in order to start the installer.

I installed MO2007 Trial then uninstalled MO2003.

Then you need to go into Control Panel-Programs and Features (for Vista,
add/remove programs in XP), click on Office 2007, click on Change, click Add
or remove components, and make Outlook available via the drop-down box.

HTH.

There can only be one installed instance of Outlook on your host. The
other components of Office allow multiple installs to permit multiple
concurrent versions (old and new) but not Outlook. As I recall, when
you install Office 2007 trial and it sees a prior version of Outlook is
already installed, it asks you if you want to move to OL2007.

You really need to find out just how you are going to install the
software that was supposedly included in the sale of the computer that
you purchased. The trial version is going to expire in 60 days. Then
what will you use?
