I uninstalled firefox and I have a couple of problems.
1st. all shortcut icons that used to use the firefox icon are now the
blank/default icon (no biggie really, just looks ugly)
I have tweakui and tried the repair icons but that didn't work.

2nd, programs that have html help files now don't launch in program
anymore..
ie. adobe illustrator press F1 for help does nothing now.

Please don't post if all you will:
a) flame me for not using firefox
b) try to convince me to use it or another browser

In control panel, add/remove programs, Set Program Access and Defaults, what
is set as your default browser? More to the point, does it help if you go
through, change to custom, and set the browser defaults there to "force" IE
as the default.

Start | Run | Type: inetcpl.cpl | OK |
Programs tab | Reset Web Settings button | Apply | OK

[[Click this to reset the default Internet Explorer settings for your home
and search pages, and prompt to make Internet Explorer your default browser.
Note: This only resets these settings if you have installed another Web

browser has changed the default settings.]]

You may also want to check:
Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser

[[Specifies whether you want Internet Explorer to remain your default
Internet browser, even if you install additional Internet browsing software.
When this check box is selected, each time Internet Explorer starts it
checks to make sure it is still registered as the default Internet browser.
If another program is registered as the default browser, Internet Explorer
asks whether you want to restore Internet Explorer as your default
browser.]]

Changing the custom in set program access defaults did nothing.

Resetting the default in internet options helped fix the icon problems, but
a browser still will not launch when I try to access the help file in said
programs.

Prior to trying the reset in internet options, I had went to t
In File Folder Options> File Types>URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol

I changed the icon infor from here since it was referring to firefox (didn't
work after reboot), and also deleted the open action which was referencing
firefox but that didn't work either.

When I go back now, there is still an open action but if I click edit
nothing happens.

There is also a launch ie action which has

app used
"C:\PROGRAM FILES\INTERNET EXPLORER\iexplore.exe" -nohome %1

dde: checked
dde m: "%1",,-1,0,,,,
app: IExplore
dde anr: blank
topic: WWW_OpenURL

Robert,

It's customary to include messages in your replies so that folks know what
and/or who you're replying about/to.

Outlook Express | Tools | Options | Send tab |
Check: Include message in reply | Apply | OK

[[Specifies whether to include the text of the original message when you
reply to a message. You can edit or cut any of the text. If you clear this
check box, the body of your message contains only the text you type or
paste.]]
