uninstall

Hi:
I'm stuck with the uninstall option and hope someone has
run into this before and has a suggestion.
I just got my PC back from recovery from a bad virus and
I upgraded to xp at same time. So I'm reloading just
about everything.
I was in process of putting my Sims game back on and
there are about 7 discs- original and then add ons. My
installation crashed about disc 5. The uninstall
option 'sees' 2 games out there to uninstall but they are
not really there. The installation became corrupted at
that point so there no actual installed version to
uninstall. I tried the 'goback' option but could not get
back far enough.
Is there a way to get the 'listing' out of the uninstall
option? I can get the programs themselves off w/o a
problem.
thanks, nomad61

The uninstall list is located in the registry. If you are comfortable
editing the registry you can remove the entry manually. Run regedit and
navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
All of the uninstall entries are listed under there. You may want to
export the key to backup before proceeding. Find and delete the key that
contains the uninstall information that you want to remove.
