I did not install (SP2) but left automatic updates on and (SP2) updates were
installed. I cannot remove them in control pannel and need to. Computer very
slow. I am desperate to get rid of all automatic updates since 10/16 when
problems began. I am not computer-smart, obviously. Please help.

Hello Lita!
I read your question, and I think I can help You. I did the same thing
myself and got the same experience of SP2. I don´t know how to remove it, but
You can make a "System-restore" ( I am Swedish and I don´t know if this is
the correct English word for it.). With this funktion you can restore the
computer to an earlier configuration, as it was a week or two before the
installation of SP2. Click on "Start - Help and Support". There You will find
this "System restore"-funktion and instuctions how to use it.
Good luck!

Lita;
If your computer is now slow try this first:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/slowcom.htm

Otherwise to uninstall SP-2:
Reboot
Go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Double click "Service Pack 2", follow prompts.
Or
System Restore to date/time before problem started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
