Dell Tec told me I could use wifes(Dell) win. XP disk to
install same on my Dell win.Me computer..Put XP disk in
D:\ drive and followed setup instructions..Got to the
Partition part of the setup..was not sure what to do with
options..Called Dell back and this Tec said no way would
the XP work on my Dell Me computer..At this point I
selected to quit setup..Now when I start computer I get a
screen that asks what OS I want..If I don't hit the
windows option right away, it goes directly to the last
box I was in during the setup..What can I do to uninstall
the portion of the XP setup that is on my computer now??
Thanks
Bob

Go to Start > Run and type: MSCONFIG , and hit enter.
Click on the BOOT.INI tab and then click on "Check All Boot Paths"
to delete incorrect boot paths.

If the above does not work for you, then:

Right-click MY COMPUTER and select:

Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery Settings > Edit

CAREFULLY edit your boot.ini file to remove the SECOND entry.
Your boot.ini file should then look similar to this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
