Uninstall Issues

I have a client who has Win XP Pro and I need to uninstall a program. I log
in as Administrator goto add/remove programs, and I am unable to uninstall
any program listed. I can highlight them but the Change/Remove button doesn't
show.

Now being that I am an Administrator I find this quite weird as I do not
have the permission to uninstall.

I found an article saying to goto
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\<Program Name> and
look for the sub keys NoRemove and NoModify. Well i runinto a problem, there
is no registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall,
which I would take it is the problem, but if that is the case then wouldn't
Add/Remove Programs be empty?

For now I am going to uninstall the program that I need to uninstall
manually, but for the rest of the programs, it most likely won't be that easy.

Any help I can get is very much appriciated. Thank you

It was Symantec Antivirus which I have taken care of, but any program that is
installed I can not uninstall, so stuff like MS Office (which I can do a
repair and it should fix it) but then Updates i dont know how to go about
fixing them or just anything that is installed.

I thought about doing a restore point but Im not sure how far to go back. So
I think I will worry about it when it creates a real issue. But for the time
being I fixed what needed to be fixed.
