Uninstall Add-in

S

Scott

I have uninstalled Symantec antivirus program but it left Add-in in Outlook
2007. Every time, when I launch the program, it comes up an alert saying
the Add-in cannot be loaded and disabled. Can someone advise how to
uninstall the Add-in.

Thanks,

Scott

On your Outlook go to Tools - Trust Center - Add-Ins and remove it from there. Also check to make sure it is not listed under Add Remove Programs under the control panel

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately, there was no any Add-in related to
Symantec over there. Is there any where to check?

Thanks,

Scott

Delete the hidden extend.dat file. Where you'll find that is WIndows
version-specific.

Visit the Symantec Web site and look around for an uninstaller. They had six
different versions the last time I looked.

Many will disagree but the only way to get rid of anything that is Symantec on your computer is to do a clean reformat of your system. Norton\Symantec is so intrusive that even their own removal tool from their site will not clean all of it out.

Hi, Just go to Tools, Trust Center, Add-Ins, Manage (bottom of screen), change COM Add-Ins to Exchange Client Extensions, Click Go, unselect Symantec Add In, Click OK, restart Outlook, DONE!!!

And WHO are you responding to? You started a NEW thread.

Also, fix your NNTP client. It is not wrapping at or before 76
characters and instead spews out one long line.

The OP isn't using an NNTP client. he's posting from
72.29.94.49.static.dimenoc.com 72.29.94.49 which I've discovered is our old
friend Eggheadcafe.....

I kind of figured it was yet another boob admin of a forum pretending
they have a larger community by using a gateway to Usenet. However, me
complaining to their admin/moderators won't help. They'll only listen
to their own users, so b^tching at the user of an improperly configured
or deficient Usenet gateway is the only way to make the wheel get
squeaky to get some attention.

To whom are you talking and about what?
The "forum" that you are posting in leaches off the Microsoft News servers
in order to make it look far busier than it really is. Everyone who uses the
MS News servers sees your post on it's own - we have NO IDEA what you are
talking about and to whom you are talking.

This is not your fault - the fault lies with the forum owners who do not
explain to members that their posts end up on global Usenet newsgroups.
If you MUST continue to post in this "forum" then please at least quote the
post you are replying to, and do NOT change the subject line.

You would be far better off however, using a news reader and subscribing to
these news groups direct.

Thanks so much for the additional info - it was driving me crazy every time I started Outlook it would stop with that message about the disabled add-in... but no one could help me get rid of it - unless I totally wiped my computer & start over - which I had just done loading Windows 7 so I really did NOT want to go through all that yet again - this extra bit of information about getting to the client extensions did the trick!!

Thanks so much

Based on Norton version 17.7 and Outlook 2003 and Windows 7 (should work for any email client and MS Operating System)

To remove the anti-spam toolbar you must configure Client Integration in Norton

In the Norton Internet Security main window, in the Network pane, click the SSETTINGS link.

Under AntiSpam, in the CLIENT INTEGRATION row, click the CONFIGURE link.

In the Client Integration window, check the programs with which you want Norton AntiSpam to integrate.

UNCHECK Outlook (or your mail program)

Click APPLY then OK to save the changes and close the Client Integration window.

Restart Outlook if it is running. The toolbar should dissapear.

Another option is to turn anti-spam off completely by moving the slider bar to the OFF position in the Norton Security pannel under NETWORK/ SETTINGS/ EMAIL PROTECTION/ ANTI-SPAM.
