Ungrouping wav and wmv files

Hi group,

At long last I have found out how to reinstate windows
original wav-player, the trusty old sndrec, now with a
snazzy -32 extension.

It seems Winamp had messed up windows dealing with
wav files, and many others.

So through the Folder Options / File Types etc I managed
to paste in the apropriate string leading to sndrec32.exe.
All good and well for the wavs.

But why oh why has wmv-files at the same time been
changed to be opened by that same soundrecorder?
Sndrec can not handle a wmv because that sort is a
movie type of file!

Do you happen to know where and how these file types
have become grouped together. And how can it be undone?

My idea is to use Mediaplayer Classic for wmv's. But I am
more flexible with those.

W2K SP 4.

Open up Windows Explorer, and go to Tools, Folder Options and click the File
Types tab. Find WMV in the Extensions column & select it. Click change and
choose/browse to the program you want to open it with. This *WILL* change
all files that are listed under the File Types column as "Windows Media
Audio/Video Files", but that should just be things like .wm and .asf files,
not .wav.
