what is the best(most convinient) way to batch convert WAV files into MP3 or WMV?

Hi all,

My voice recorder generated a large number of WAV files; and they are now
scattered around under about over 100s of directories.

What is the best(most convinient) way to batch convert WAV files into MP3 or
WMV?

The criteria are:

1. I hope within Windows XP sp2, or MS software family, there is an existing
tool that can handle this task -- thus I don't need to download a 3rd party
software to do this conversion. The reason is the more software I install,
the slower the PC becomes, and eventually I have to reinstall the whole
system just to get back speed. It will be a mess.

2. Most convinient means I don't need to click too many buttons or type too
many things. Since these batch conversions are going to be very frequent,
since I am going to continuously use my voice recorder. So the less
buttons/keys I input, the less hassle.

Please give me advice. Thank you very much!

I'm sure if there were such a tool, it would be labelled as "bloat". As
such, there isn't, so you will have to download a tool like dbPowerAmp.

Hello cfman,
Don't think MS any product will help you with conversion to MP3
WMA (you wrote WMV???) is MS format but I am not aware of any MS batch
converter
=== Look here for free wav->mp3 list
http://www.mp3-converter.com/mp3_converter_freeware.htm
Try this for example: http://www.dors.de/razorlame/index.php
This one is easy and proven
=== or seach "frontend for Lame". Many of those you find are free.
Most of downloads will provide Lame encoder but just in case check if
it is the latest
here http://lame.sourceforge.net/ (version v3.96.1)
There are links to newer alfa/beta releases
but you will be fine with v3.96.1 with most common (default) settings
for what you've described you wanna do.
=== and google "wav to mp3" or "wav to WMA" for more info
Thanks

Nothing could be easier than CDex, and it won't slow down your
computer.

There was one included in a Windowsmedia fun/seasonal pack about 5 years
ago, but it's not as flexible as third party solutions.

Hello cfman
I hope any editing software would render your work. For you I
suggest FlexiMusic Wave Editor with which prestently I try
editing/converting my audio files. http://www.fleximusic.com/
