Unexpected State

Hi all,

I have a security XP database (using Jet-based workgroup
security model). All of a sudden, when I try to access,
either by directly clikcing on its icion, or by clicking
on its shortcut icon (which points to the workgroup file),
I receive the following error: "This database is in an
unexpected state; MS Access can't open it. This database
has been converted from a prior version of MS Access by
using the DAO CompactDatabase method instead of the
Convert Database command of the Tools menu. This has left
the database in a partically converted state. "

However, I didn't converted it by either method -- it has
always been in XP format.

Can anyone shed some light on this issue? What might have
caused this and how can I recover it? (It's only the front-
end; the back-end is functioning all right.)

TIA.

It looks like your database is corrupt. You can try to use Jetcomp.exe,
which can be downloaded from Microsoft, to repair it. If that doesn't work
you may want to check Tony Toews' website for possibilities --
www.granite.ab.ca/corruptmdbs.htm. If all else fails you should probably
contact Peter Miller at www.pksolutions.com.
