Unexpected Shutdowns

My desktop continues to unexpectedly shut down. It does
it at all different times and I can no longer use the cd
burner because of this problem. Sometimes it restarts on
its own and other times I have to turn off the power and
restart it myself. Please help with advise that is not
too technical. Thanks.
