Unexpected image handling change in Vista...

R

ropeyarn

Fresh (less than 10 days) Vista install.

When selected in folders, .jpg images open the selected image with
Windows Photp gallery by default (I'm fine with this). Up until a short
time ago, .gif and .tiff images opened the same way when selected in a
folder.

Now:
..jpg and .tif opening as describe above.

But:
when .gif images are selected, a gallery opens up...no apparent relation
to the selected image.

Opening .gif images with the MS Office Picture Manager overcomes this.

I'd like to have .gifs handled the same way as .jpg/.tifs in Windows
Photo Gallery.

What have I (or Vista) done wrong?

Thanks

Never mind. I might have been confusing it with how Windows Explorer
handled .gif files under XP (in the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer).

Windows photo gallery doesn't support .gif files:
