Undesireable changes after updates installed

Hi All,

I was advised to install all of the Microsoft Office updates (against my
better judgment) and ever since I did I have experienced changes that I don't
like. I always use a specific font and color in my outgoing email messages in
Outlook 2003 and since updating, Outlook no longer uses Word as my email
editor. I know i have read many sites stating that using Word is not
efficient, but I am used to it and like the format. I was also having a lot
of connectivity errors while sending/receiving emails. I finally did a system
restore to the point I set before I installed all of the updates (which
included SP3). It said the restore was successful but Outlook still won't use
Word as the email editor, and when I reply to emails they default to "plain
text" instead of HTML or Rich Text. I have a signature set on my email which
is identifiable by the font and color and do not want to use plain text.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get Word back as my editor? I have
gone into tools/options/mail format and made sure it is set that way.

One other note; when I did the restore and opened Outlook for the first
time, i got the windows installer box saying it was configuring and that I
had to reboot which I did.
Thanks in advance for any help.

For some reason when I rebooted for a second time, after the windows
installation window appeared, I was able to use Word as the email editor
again. Now, I am downloading repeats of all of the emails since I set up a
second email address but only from this new email. I'm not quite sure why
they didn't all re-download at once but they downloaded in 2 separate
batches, so far. Fortunately it was this new email so there were not that
many messages I had to delete but I'm curious why something like this would
happen. Just so you know, the new email address was set up almost a week
before the restore point.
Any ideas?
