I've accidentally erased an important file that I need to

Unless the file was too big for the Recycle Bin or you purposely bypass the
bin, that's where deleted files are placed. You can restore a file from the
bin if it's still in there. Open the Recycle Bin, locate the file. Drag it
from there and drop to any location -or- right click and select Restore to
send it back to where it was originally.

If the file is not in the Recycle Bin, you may be able to recover it with
an undelete/restore program. Use the drive that the file is located on as
little as possible to avoid it being overwritten.

Several undelete programs to choose from are listed here:
http://www.free-downloads.net/sub_category/File_Restoration

Will work with NTFS:
Restorer2000 : http://www.bitmart.net
RStudio : http://www.r-tt.com
