unchangeable spacing??

I am typing my dissertation in Word and have double-spaced
work. There are several places where I have added a
paragraph and now the spacing between some paragraphs is
triple spaced and it cannot be corrested. I have tried to
delete spacing back to the end of the preceding paragraph
then press "enter" and still get triple spacing. Can
anyone give me some help??? Thanks

Select paragraph, go to Format/Paragraph/Spacing Before
and After -- change that to .0.

If that's not exactly what you want, experiment until you
find the spacing you want.
