unauthorized Quick Time installation

All of a sudden I noticed a grayed-out icon for Quick Time in my System
Tray. When I click on it, it only gives me a choice of "QuickTime Website"
or "Exit".

When I do a search for Quick Time I find about 20 small files. When I go to
Control Panel/Add Remove Programs, there is no Quick Time Program listed.

How did this thing get in my computer and how do I get rid of it?

I may have visited the "My Tube" website. Could they have sneaked in this
mess?

Most web sites will tell you that you need QuickTime to view a certain
video. It appears that someone went to one of these websites, downloaded
QuickTime to view a video, and then tried to uninstall QuickTime. It left
some items behind apparently.

Install QuickTime (to the same location it was originally installed to)
again and then perform a proper uninstall routine.
