Quick Time Icon

Hello,

Within the last couple days a Quicktime icon has appeared on my task bar
(Win XP). I have no idea why. The shortcut menu gives me options to Exit
and to a couple Quick Time urls, but all other options are dimmed. I
checked the Add Remove programs section and see nothing for Quicktime in the
listing.

Is anyone familiar with how this icon began appearing and how I can remove
it permantly?

Thank you and God Bless,

Mark A. Sam

QT seems to act a lot like a virus at times, doesn't it? Download RegCleaner
which used to be available free from jv16.org. You can still get the last
version from http://www.all-freeware.com/

I use it regularly to remove Startup Items that have insinuated themselves onto
my Taskbar. It keeps backups so that you can correct it if you accidentally
remove something vital.

Thank you John,

That did it, although I don't understand how this icon got installed on my
machine. I didn't have quicktime, only a folder with a .ocx and a small
..exe file. I deleted them after the registry was cleaned.

Thank you for your reply Mik. I couldn't use the suggested method on the
website, becuase Quicktime wasn't installed on my machine, only the icon.

God Bless,

Mark
