I am sharing my computer with another person, each having
our own user account. I have password protect my account,
however i found out that my friend was able to look
through my files and even reset my password. How can she
do that and how can i prevent it? She's a IT profession.

It sounds like she's an administrator of the computer. If you don't want her
to be able to do these kinds of tasks you need to change her account so that
she's no longer an administrator. You'd also need to change the
"administrator" default account's password too.

If it is her computer, there is nothing you can do.
If she is an IT Professional, she can get around anything, she has
access to the tools.
However I would question if she is actually a professional if she uses
unethical practices.

In any event you need to be using NTFS and not FAT32:

Windows XP Home:

Windows XP Pro:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q307874&

Also her account needs to be a Limited Account and not Administrator
Go to User Accounts in Control Panel, select her account, then select
"Change account type"

Reboot, tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu.
Select Administrator.
Then go to User Accounts, select Administrator and password it.

You must tightly control all Administrators.
Any Administrator can do and undo anything any Administrator can do.
