I am unable to view some web sites such as MSN.com. This just started 5/12/04. I put in a different hard drive, formattedit and instlles windows xp home only. It does the same thing.

I too am having this problem and it started about the same time. Up until then, I could go to just about any web page with no problems. Now when I access certain pages, Explorer unexpectedly shuts down with no error message and I'm back at the deskstop

I'm running Windows XP on a Dell system that isn't even a year old yet.

It is possible you may have parasites on your system causing the
problem. Download, install, update and run the programs below. They are free
and very effective. Be sure to run both SpyBot and Adaware, as what one does
not detect the other may. Follow the directions carefully.

SpyBot Search & Destroy: Free

AdAware: Free

I have spybot and nortons on te origanial drive. the replacement drive was just formatetted and XP installed and it did the same thing as soon as i booted up & tried to go to MSN. Since the drive was just formatted I know its clean. The origanial drive was completely disconnected prior to formatting.

Have you tried checking with MSN or your ISP? It may be you need to make
some setting change or update. If you are sure there is nothing on your
hard drive virus wise or malware/parasite wise, then that is the only other
suggestion I can think of at this point. Perhaps someone else has an answer
for you. :-)

Good luck.

I have spent the last four days on the phone with my ISP they say its my
system. As for MSN there are multiple sites I cant get to. In fact the new
installation of windows can't connect to microsoft for activation? I am
going to try to borrow a computer that can connet to these sites and see if
it can connect from my home. I am out of ideas otherwise.

I'm out of them too. Sorry I could not be of more help. Hopefully, you will
find an answer to your problem soon. Please post back when you find out
what the problem is, if you will. It may help others who are having a
similar problem. I am seeing a good number of folks with a similar
situation, so it could be something with MSN too.

Best regards,

Jan :)

Tried the other computer. It did the same thing. My ISP now agrees it is
thier hardware and is going to come and fix it

Yeah...they don't like to have to admit that. ;-) I hope they will be able
to get you back up and running soon. Thank you very much for the feedback.
