Unable to view secure sites in IE 6 due to corruption by MSN Explorer...how to fix?

I downloaded MSN Explorer a few weeks back to utilize a temporary dialup connection, and now I'm getting "Cannot find server" messages whenever I try to log into any kind of secure site (i.e. Hotmail, my bank, my credit card companies, etc.). According to customer support at my cable company, MSN Explorer may have corrupted my security settings to the point where no secure sites will be recognized.

I do a great deal of my important business online, and this is a massive inconvenience, but I'd rather not get swindled out of $35 because Microsoft has to make you pay for help to fix problems caused by their products damaging each other. If anyone knows of another way to fix this issue, I'd love to hear it. Thank you.
