Unable to view embedded pictures and picture links/banners

I am not able to view any pictures or embedded banners/pictures in my email
when opened full size nor in the preview pane. This problem has just started
when I installed the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 update on 02/21/09, I
then did a system restore and rebooted and it worked fine (I could see the
pictures). So I hid that update (the .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1), but now I
just noticed the same thing happening again now (it is early Sunday morning
03/01/09). I checked in my update list and that .NET Framework update did
not get reinstalled, so I am stumped.

I read over all the topics and no one has seemed to have the same problem.

FYI... I currently have the security options unchecked and allowing
attachments and pictures to be viewed.

Can anyone help?

That .NET Framework thing was probably a coincidence.

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail. It often takes an update to trigger symptoms.

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools | Options and delete the files and see if
that fixes it.
