make sure you search in hidden folders as well
it's likely under "...documents and settings\*user*\application
data\microsoft\access"

G:

Can you open Access by itself (ie. with a shortcut in your Start menu)? If
so, try the following:

1.) Press Ctrl G to open up the Immediate window in the Visual Basic
Editor
2.) Enter the following command:

?dbengine.systemdb

If you cannot open Access 2002, try opening Excel 2002 instead. Open the VBE
in the same manner, using Ctrl G. Click on Tools > References. Scroll down
the list until you find the item that reads "Microsoft Access 10.0 Object
Library". Place a check here to select this library. Then repeat the test in
the immeditate window, by trying out the same command shown above, ie.
?dbengine.systemdb

If this command is successful, it should reveal the full path where Access
expects to find the workgroup information file that you are currently joined
to. Does this path exist on your computer? You should be able to copy the
result from the Immediate window, and paste it into the Start > Search > For
Files or Folders dialog.

If the file exists in the indicated path, but you cannot open Access, then
you truly have a serious problem. The quickest resolution may very likely be
to make a back-up copy of all data files, FDISK your hard drive, re-format
it, and then re-install everything from the ground up, including all service
packs for the operating system, Office XP, and the JET database engine. Of
course, you'll need to start with the operating system first, before
re-installing Office.

Good Luck,

Tom
