After I updated Windows XP SP1 I encountered few problems
(including an error message with winlogon.exe)and I was
told (by an IT coord at work) to restore the computer to a
previous date. Since then, the computer will not start
Windows XP. I am using the recovery console to access at
least my data but when it ask for administrator password
it will not take the password. After 3 attempts it
reboots. what can I do?

Are you using the password for AN Administrator level account, or the
password for THE Administrator account?

for the administrator account. It keeps telling me that
the password is incorrect. Is there a way to recover the
data (my documents)? prior to reformat the hard drive and
start all over (if that was the only solution.

can anyone help?

This has been driving me crazy. I need to do a repair
boot up so I can tell XP Home about my SATA drive, but in
the repair, I am asked for THE Admin password and I never
set one up and have no idea what it is.

PLEASE help.
