Unable to use my Outlook Express

I am unable to read any messages from my Outlook Express Mail. I am also
unable to even open Outlook Express unless I reboot first. I am able to see
that there are new messages and the subject lines, but when I click on a
message, I receive a message that the mail could not be read because there
may not be enough memory. I have checked and I have plenty of disk space and
have cleaned out the Cookies and Temporary Internet Files, but nothing I have
done works. Today when I attempted to open Outlook Express, for the first
time I got a message that says "Outlook Express could not be started. It may
not be installed correctly. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you
are not out of memoryl Contact Microsoft support for further assistance.

Try compacting your files manually while working *offline*.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders
are open, then: File>Work Offline (or double click Working Online in
the Status Bar). File>Folder>Compact all folders.

In Tools>Options>Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background.
{N/A if using XP/SP2}.

Do you have a lot of mail saved in OE default folders? If so, create
your own folders and move the mail to them. Keep default folders as
empty as possible.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for your help. I was unable to solve the problem. One of your
suggestions was followed by {N/A if using XP/SP2} which I am using In fact
it seems to me that it was after I loaded the SP2 fix that I started to have
these problems..
