Excel Unable to use mouse for scrolling

Recently my mouse scrolling wheel which is on the top of the mouse located between the left and right click button stopped responding . i no longer can scroll vertically in worksheets using mouse.

Please help.

does it scroll anywhere else?

No , the problem is every where within windows.
I have attached jpg of my mouse.

I agree that it's probably a hardware issue, but before getting a new mouse you could try cleaning it - it may be that dirt is preventing it from working properly. However, when dirt is the issue you tend to get lack of responsiveness, not a total lack of function... still worth a try though.
