Unable to upgrade

I have tried several times to upgrade Windows XP to Vista but it hangs at
"Completing Upgrade" At this point I have to do a cold boot and the system
is rolled back. I have even tried to upgrade a fresh install of XP and can
not get any further. Any help will be appreciated that will allow me to
install Vista.

I have the same exact problem. repeated message that "drive is not ready for
use...please check drive...." even though drive and disk seem to be
functioning fine.
