Unable to uninstall Trend Micro PC-cillin Trial Version

I just bought a new Dell Dimension E510 and the above Internet Security Trial
version came with the computer. I went and bought the 2006 version of the
same product. Before I installed it, I followed the directions to uninstall
the trial version. Everytime I try to uninstall the trial version I receive
the error message "Fatal Exception at Installation" and I can't remove it so
I am unable to install the 2006 version. Also, Windows Security Alerts tells
me that my anti-virus software (the trial version) is turned off. My firewall
is on but not the antivirus. Can anyone help me and tell me where I can begin
to get this issue resolved. Thank you!

I'm not sure if this will help, but ... If you are talking about the
TredMicro Internet Security, I bought the 2006 version and just
installed it. The installation routine saw that it had the 2005
currently installed and as part of the 2006 install removed it had me
reboot and then continuned on with the new install. You might try
that. As far as the second part, click on the security alert in the
system tray and see if you can turn it on there ... As a last resort
try calling Dells tech support they should be able to help seeing as
how it is brand new. I don't personally run SP2 so don't know that much
about the Security Alerts. Sorry.
