PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 Installation Error

I bought PC-Cillin IS 2007 back in Dec. 2006 and installed it on my Windows
XP laptop. It works great. I recently bought a new laptop with Windows Vista
Home and I've tried installing it but wasn't successful. I realized that the
version of PC-Cillin was not Windows Vista Certified so I went to my local
store and bought a new PC-Cillin Internet Security 2007 Windows Vista
Certified. I've tried installing it but everytime I click on the Install
button I always get this message: "A fatal error in your windows operating
system has prevented the program from installing. Please restart your
computer and try again." I did but I always get the same message. I turned
off the Antivirus that came with Windows Vistait came with a 60 day free
trial). I've turned off all the firewalls and closed all windows but I still
get the same message. I contacted Trend Micro and they gave me more
instructions which I followed. I also downloaded their "upgrade patch" but at
the end they told me it was Windows Vista and to contact them. I'm so
frustrated! I'm going crazy! Can someone tell me what to do?

go to hp, or Norton, and download the Norton removal tool. remove Norton.

Then install trend, and watch the real troubles start. Never mind, you bought yours from a store. I'll have to assume that one came with a serial number. I've only been with trend for 8 years and same serial for the past 4-5.

I have a new laptop and have installed PC-Cillin 2007 on it. You do have to
remove Norton completely from the computer. When I started the installation
my version of PCC 2007 asked if I wanted it to remove it. I did and the
installtion went flawlessly. However you do it get rid of Norton. I have
PCC on three different operating system running on my home wireless network.
I highly recommend it. Good luck Melissa.

I am having the same problem with one of my 2 Vista Home Premium computers.
I have successfully installed PC-Cillin 2007 one one but I'm getting that
dratted 'fatal error' message also. I completely removed Norton. This error
message says it is a Windows operating system that is not allowing the
install. I have a question in to Trend Micro about this now.

I wish I had an answer for you but I'm having problems with Trend-Micros
House call as well. It doesn't want to run on Vista either although it did
run once. I've tried running it with all virus software shut down but still
no luck

Thanks you guys. I have successfully installed PC-Cillin. I downloaded the
Norton Removal kit and uninstalled Norton. But when I tried instaling
PC-Cillin I still got the same message. It was driving me crazy until I
decided to use the Help and Support from the Start menu on my laptop. I typed
in "Getting older programs to run on Windows Vista." It suggested for me to
use the Compatibility Wizard (or something like that; I don't remember what
it was called) so I did and I followed the instructions. When it asked what
operating system the software was intended for I chose Windows XP. And it
installed it perfectly fine. Hope this helps you out Rowena. I contacted
Trend and they were useless so try what I did and see what happens. Good luck
Rowena!
