What make was your old mouse and what make is your new
mouse?

Some external mouse drivers override the built in drivers
for laptop touchpads. Microsoft Intellipoint only allows
one setting for the sensitivity of the mice, while
Logitech drivers allow you to configure each device
individually. I have a laptop with a touchpad that shows
up as a PS/2 Logitech Compatible Mouse, an MX500, and a
Logitech Cordless Notebook Mouse. I had the Cordless
mouse before I bought the MX500, and I used to have an
Intellimouse Explorer 3.0. Using the Microsoft drivers,
the cordless mouse and the touchpad were far too
sensitive, but with the Logitech drivers, I can adjust
each of them individually.

Hope this helps,

Nick

P.S. When installing drivers for different brands of
mice, it's often good practice to remove the old drivers
before installing the new ones. Try this:

-uninstalling ALL the drivers
-re-installing the OLD ones
-uninstalling the OLD drivers
-re-installing the NEW drivers
