running Xp with home network, working perfectly fine, now one computer cannot
connect. Don't know what may have happened. Network Connections lists the Lan
to have "limited or no connectivity". When I try to use ipconfig to renew IP
I get the following; "error occurred while running local area connection,
requested protocol has not been configured for the system or no
implementation for it exists". Any help would be appreciated

Something has gone wrong with the network connection. Go to Device
Manager, un-install the network adapter that the connection uses, and
reboot. That should re-detect the network adapter and create a new,
working network connection.

If that doesn't solve the problem, reset the Winsock catalog, using
the appropriate method for your version of Windows XP:

SP2: Type this line at a command prompt:

netsh winsock reset catalog

Original or SP1: Follow these steps, taken from Microsoft Knowledge
Base article 811259:

1. Backup and delete the following registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Winsock2

2. Reboot

3. Open the network connections folder, right click your network
connection, and click Properties.

4. Click Install | Protocol | Add.

5. Click "Have Disk", type "\windows\inf" in the box, click OK.

6. Click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)", then click OK.

7. Reboot.
