I have Windows XP Professional and I am unable to start my computer in Safe
Mode by pressing F8 during boot up. Is there another way to start in Safe
Mode? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance!

Yeah when you start the computer continually press F8 until you get the
option to start windows in safe mode. Sometimes you have a very small
window to press the F8 button for it to work. :)

Your not crazy! I cannot start safe mode either, XP Professional as well.
The 2nd option below does not work either. Have to start is safe mode to get
rid of that "winfixer" malware but either method results in a black screen
with safe mode in the corners - no icons. Trying to start explorer from the
task manager does not work either.

Any other suggestions?

Hello,

We have a free tool called BootSafe to make that process easier.

Still no good, boots to safe mode with "safe mode" in the four corners but
with plain black screen. Same as F* and using msconfig.
