Unable to sort on last name in Windows Mail

I've moved from Outlook Express 6 to Windows Mail with Windows Vista.

The Outlook Express Address Book has been replaced by Windows Contacts.

I want to sort Contacts by Last Name but no matter what I do the Contacts
always view as sorted by First Name.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to fix this.

TIA.

Right click in the menu bar containing "name E-mail Address Business phone
etc".
In the list, select Last Name. It will now show in the menu bar and can be
selected as the sort field.

Thanks.

I had done that, but when I create mail and call up contacts it's
always sorted on Name again and the fields First & Last Name aren't
available in that view.

I don't know how, but it's now sorting correctly on Last Name. One of life's
little mysteries to me.

I had the same problem. I had about 1,000 contacts and at some point
I was able to see the last and first name of some of the contacts but
not all. Now if there is a contact that does not display the names, I
open the contact, click OK and then the names are displayed. Needless
to say, doing this for all 1,000 contacts is not practical.
