Unable to set IE as default browser after Firefox install

D

Dave Benton

I'm running Windows XP SP2. I installed Mozilla Firefox
for some testing. I allowed Firefox to set itself as my
default browser.

I have since rmeove Firefox and check the box in Internet
Options that should have IE check to see if it's the
default browser.

I am now unable to click and link and launch into IE.
IE has not yet prompted me to make it the defasult
browser. The common fix seems to be re-install of IE but
I cannot install IE6SP1 because it sees a newer version
of IE installed.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Dave,

Common issue!

Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser -
option does not work:

See Tip# 7, 40, 41, 50 for straight forward methods:
