Unable to Search

WXP Pro with SP2.
Nothing happens when choosing search from the Start Menu, right clicking a
directory and choosing search. Why and how do I fix it?
 
Start > Run and type

%windir%\inf

Locate the file "srchasst.inf", right click on it and choose "Install". You
may need XP CD.
 
I tried using System Restore but every instance of it failed. Any ideas on
what's wrong and how to fix it?
