Unable to saftely remove USB drive

I have problems removing the USB thumbdrive after plugging it in my school's
Acer computers. It gives me the message "This operation has been restricted
due to limitation effects on this computer" and I have to shut down Windows
to remove it. I have got no problems safely removing the same thumbdrive on
my home computer

It's because the System Admin of your school's computers doesn't want thumb
drives hooked to them. It's an easy way to spread viruses.

If that were the case, wouldn't 'Access Denied' be the message when
inserting it rather then removing it ?
Perhaps the Admin has it backwards <w>
