Unable to Remove Program

I am trying to load the newest version of ACT! The installation disk tells
me that there is an older version already installed (correct) - but I must
manually remove it since the Windows Installer cannot. I've tried
everything (Add/Remove) - even through Command Prompt - to remove the
directory - to no avail. Now I've removed parts - so now the old version
won't start and I cannot install the new.

Any suggestions would be most helpful and certainly appreciated.

Thanks Mark - but that didn't work. What I find interesting is that when I
got to the section of:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
that there was no UNINSTALL tab at all - nor the program ACT in any of the
visual tabs. I really screwed up somewhere. I'll keep trying ! ;)

Thanks Woody - but alas, this is a confusing one - and that didn't work either.
Appreciate your help, though

Download the "Windows Install Cleanup Tool" at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 and remove with it.....

Thanks for reminding me of the name of that program. I thought I had something
like it, but couldn't recall the name nor locate it.

I actually had it installed on my computer, and it cleared up the issue I
posted about earlier!
