Unable to reinstall xp from setup cdrom

Hi all...

I'm currently tearing my hair out and getting somewhat fed up with xp...
I've a newish machine that I installed aprtition magic on and created a
couple of new partitions. Something went wrong, seriously wrong and I could
no longer boot my computer (possibly not related to the partitioning... I
don't know).

Anyway, I finally decided the best thing to do was to start afresh... I have
the xp installation cd-rom, so I want to wipe the disk clean and reinstall
from scratch. However, when i try to boot from the cd-rom, it goes through
the loading drivers, etc., but when it gets to Starting Windows, I get a
blue screen... The page-fault-in-unpaged-area error message is given with
the technicial information (if it's worth anything) at the bottom:
*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0x98891BFD, 0x00000000, 0x98891BFD, 0x00000000)

I can't seem to get anywhere other than this.

It may be due to the way I've formatted the drive, perhaps, but I can't find
anything that suggests how else I might do it - in the end I had to use
fdisk. And nowhere ca\n I find any information on how to install xp if there
are problems with the cd-rom so that I can't get to the welcome screen.

If anyone can suggest things to try or places I can look (I seem to have
exhausted the microsoft support site without luck) I'd be very (very!)
grateful.

If you are wanting io start with a clean slate. You put in the red
(maroon) disk in. not the blue ones, to clear the hard drive.
