unable to record a macro in excel

I have just recently (in the last 3 weeks) acquired a new computer, which
came with Microsoft Office Professional 2003 (which I had to install myself).
I had no problems with installation at all and I haven't had any problems
using Excel until I tried to record a Macro. After filling in the
appropriate boxes etc, I clicked Ok and then received an error message
"unable to record". I have searched high and low over the internet and only
found the same problem once, but in Excel 97! I changed the security
settings to low to see if this would help, but no such luck!

Try re-installing and selecting either 'custom' and checking everything (Run
all from my computer) or 'full install'
