The network I am running has a T1 connection through a Cisco 1841. The DHCP
is run of the server which is a Dell PowerEdge running 2000. There is about
thirty computers and devices running on the network switced through (2)
Netgear FS116 and (1) Linksys 4116. There is also a Linksys WRT54G which is
used as a wireless hub. All of the computers and devices show up in the DHCP
leases but when attempting to ping to some of the addresses there is no
response. It doesn't seem to matter which of the switches the machine is
plugged into. Some of them ping and others don't, even from the server. For
example, machine "X" is pingable from the server. From "X" I can ping about
half of the machines. Computers "Y" and "Z" can not be reached through a ping
from the server but can ping to all those that "X" can. Computers "Y" and "Z"
can't ping each other. I discovered this problem when, some time around
upgrading to the T1 line , a shared printer on "Y" could not be reached from
"X". I can't find any reason why this would be because X Y and Z all have
network resources and the internet connection. All machines in question are
running XP. Does anyone know what is going on here? Any help would be
appreciated.
Thank You,
