unable to permanently delete files

We are running Windows 2000 where I work and recently I
have been unable to permanently delete files from my
desktop. When I delete the file it always returns within a
day or two. Is there anyway to fix that?
 
Check to see if you are using redirected folders. I have seen this when the
desktop is redirected to the same location as the roaming profile or if the
profile is being update from another machine. If you are not using roaming
profiles then I am unsure what could be doing it.
