I got this message after unintalling Office 2003 and re-installing
Office 2000. Outlook defaults to network folders view. Seems that
Outlook 2003 pst files are not compatible with Office 2000. I backed
up the Office 20003 pst file and then created a new one using the mail
option in Windows Control panel.

C:\Documents and Settings\yourid\Local Settings\Application Data
\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst.

control panel --> mail --> add services --> add personal folders.

Restart ourlook and the standard folders appear in the shortcuts
list.

Hope this helps.

Patrick.

There is a compatibility problemn between the pst files

Not surprising. Outlook 2002 and earlier can't read Unicode PSTs created by
Outlook 2003 and later.
