When trying to open wordperfect documents on a network
share in MS Word 2003 I receive an "access is denied"
error message. If I copy the file to a client PC I can
open it without a problem.
The shared folder is hosted on a Novell server.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Arthur

Do users have full read/write access to the shared folder? Word needs
this in order to create and delete temporary files.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, all users have full access to the shared folder on
the network. They can both save and delete documents.
I first thought this could be a Fat32/NTFS problem but
excel does not have this problem. I also looked into
this patch but it's not available for word 2003

I hope you'll be able to help.

Hi Arthur

The only other thing I can think to suggest is to ensure that all
versions of Word have the WordPerfect converters installed. You can check
if they're installed through the Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
Microsoft Office. Tick the box for "choose advanced customization of
applications". The file converters are included among the "Office Shared
Features".

Hope this helps.
