Unable to open PowerPoint when sent to me in an email

I have PowerPoint 2007 and when someone sends me an email with a PP
presentation I am unable to open it. However, if I save it to a file I can
then open it from there. Why won't this jsut open right from Outlook Express?

I'm guessing that PowerPoint 2007 file in .pptx extension might open as .zip
causing the recepient not able to view the file when opened from outlook. If
so, then the sender will need to zip the pptx file up first before sending.
