Unable to open image folder

C

Clyne

Hi
Using Front page 2000.
Insert | Picture | From file |
When I try to insert a picture from my files it takes ages to bring up the
dialog box. Often nothing happens, Frontpage freezes and I have to close it
down.
My images folder is about 80MB. Is there a limit on how big a folder can be
before it is too big to open. (if this is the reason why its not opening?)
I have deleted all my temporary Frontpage files (*.web)

Many thanks

Geoff

PS: How do others cope with large numbers of pictures on a web?

1) Make sure you first File | import the image into your open web before
inserting on a page.

2) I would suggest making a variety of image folders to make them smaller.

3) In addition to deleting the *.web files, delete the temporary FP files
and windows temp files and IE temp files.

Thanks Tom

Where do I delete these files from? (temporary FP files
and windows temp files and IE temp files). I have found a load of temporary
files under C | Windows | Temporary Internet Files.

How do others cope with large numbers of pictures on a web?

It depends on how the photos are being using, if like a gallery, I would
place the photos into a subweb and never open it directly in FP, (use FTP to
upload them) then I would write a custom ASP based application which would
display the photos from this subweb, in this way FP has no need to track the
photo.
